Il disco fa ampio uso di strumenti da orchestra, archi, ottoni e grandi percussioni. Ma non dubitate: l?ascolto ? raramente noioso o stancante.

On the occasion of Two or Three Things I Know About Provo / The Brno Edition, a small catalogue has been published, designed and edited by Experimental Jetset. The main part of the booklet consists of a short story written by Auke Boersma, a former member of the Provo movement. In this (previously unpublished) story from 1983, Boersma recalls the early days of Provo in an almost Pop Art way, comparing key members of Provo with vintage comic characters, while describing a surreal ?d?rive? through the city of Amsterdam.
Further included in the booklet is a 24-page section of photos by Johannes Schwartz, documenting the first edition of the exhibition, as took place in Amsterdam. There?s also a foreword by Experimental Jetset, as well as an afterword by Marek Pokorny, director of the Moravian Gallery.

Geographers James Cheshire and Oliver O?Brien visualized life expectancy in London as a tube map.
Whilst the average life expectancy predictions show that today?s children are expected to live longer, the range is startling. For the stations mapped, it is over 20 years with those around Star Lane (on the DLR) predicted to live, on average, for 75.3 years in contrast to 96.38 years for those around Oxford Circus. The smaller disparities are no less striking. For example, between Lancaster Gate and Mile End (20 minutes on the Central line) life expectancy decreases by 12 years and crossing the Thames between Pimlico and Vauxhall sees life expectancy drop by 6 years. The stations serving the Olympic Park fair badly and contrast with the Olympic volleyball venue at Earl?s Court whose spectators will be passing through areas with far higher life expectancies and lower child poverty
The tube map metaphor is typically a stretch, in line with the periodic table of whatever, but this actually works. [via Guardian]

Il problema si verifica soprattutto nelle zone ?ad alta pressione? (Acute Trusts) che includono, per esempio, il reparto di Accident & Emergency (Pronto Soccorso). Il costo di questi episodi ? stimato pari a circa ?69 milioni l?anno, ma questo dato non ? esemplificativo della realt? della situazione: gli incidenti hanno un?influenza sul personale come sugli utenti del servizio; oltre a diminuire la soddisfazione sul lavoro e la percezione dell?efficienza del servizio da parte dei pazienti hanno un impatto negativo su una serie di altre spese. Queste includono, per esempio, la perdita dell?investimento fatto per la formazione del personale che decide di andarsene e una spesa ingente per assumere delle guardie di sicurezza esterne, una scelta quasi obbligata per molti ospedali.
